AND THE ABORIGINES OF AUTSTRALIA A SHORT STUDY

   To know the. people and their culture one should know the following viz., the country, its geographical location, size, shape, their natural environment, weather, the people, their stock and descendants, language, their history, their living with the land, family and daily life.

   The aboriginal culture has survived through thousands of years. The Indian cultural traditions and practices have many similarities with the Australian aboriginal culture, their traditional beliefs, values, life-styles, ceremonies and rituals, agriculture, language, law, healing etc., covering the following areas : (i) People, land and living with the land (ii) Family life (iii) Daily life (iv) House and garden (v) Transport (vi) Trade practices (vii) Healing (viii) Growing up (ix) Language and law (x) Oral traditions (reciting certain passages) and (xi) Art.

   This is an untrapped area by the Indian research workers to some extent and further research is necessary with the help of Indian and Australian Governments.
