Physics, Metaphysics and Philosophy

Dr. P.V. Pathak
Independent Research Worker, Pune

Physics here denotes the quest for understanding both the inanimate and animate things of the world as materialistic phenomena. It is controlled by the basic concept of measurement. Metaphysics goes beyond the physical mcasurnment and delves in the realms of perceiving form, and finally philosophy is rationalization entity that governs the raisin d'etre of the material world. An objection is always raised about today's seminar topic. Did the ancient seers and philosophers know all the modern sciences ?  Because a few scholars of the ancient Indian history many times harp on this aspect. If ever the modern science was known to the ancient seers, where is the evidence, say in ancient texts or in the archaeological finds ? It is improper to search today's modern science in the ancient texts, as it exists today. However, certain
theoretical aspects of the modern science were perceived at an abstract level of thinking and no rationalization could be offered for their derivation.  There are many discoveries in science which were intuitively felt by the concerned scientists. They had neither background knowledge nor rationale to arrive at a proposition. It is true especially in the field of atomic sciences and cosmological theories. Concepts in quantum physics, some propositions like structure of benzene molecule ete. cannot be derived rationally. What is the source of this knowledge ? According to the Indian conception of the world, all the
knowledge, the vidya and avidya simultaneously exists. When human mind starts  exploring the answer to these questions, say a scientist faced with the problem, he is turned to the cosmic mind for a few seconds which results into revelation of the nature. It is as if transfer of part of information from the super computer of the cosmic existence to the personal floppy of individual mindscape. The same phenomenon occurred in the case of saints and seers. Their enternal quest to understand the root cause behind creation of the universe led them to perceive the reality behind the cosmic cause, in the same manner as understood by a modetn cosmologist. From the propositions in Nasadiya Sukra which runs parallel with the Big Bang Theory to the modern saints like Eknath, Tukaram to Sri Aurobindo and Gurudev Ranade, all of them explored the cosmic existence in the realms of their mindscape. it was a shadow of the cosmic mind that is revealed in their thought process.
