VISIT OF INDIAN STUDENTS TO
OXFORD, CAMBRIDGE AND LONDON

Dear students
Oxford, Cambridge and London in UK have much to offer to
students in terms of educational opportunities. Oxford and
Cambridge are the towns of academic institutions while London
is a financial city with large number of museums and libraries.
The Institute for Oriental Study (IOS), Thane has successfully
organised four visits of Indian students to these cities
in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Now IOS proposes to arrange
the fifth educational tour of Indian students to Oxford,
Cambridge and London from 16 to 26 May 2010. It is
proposed to spend three days in each of these cities. The
proposed tour would comprise visits to the following places.

3. Museum of Archaeology
4. Folk Museum
5. American Cemetery
6. University Library
7. The Circular Church
8. Queens College
9. Geometrical Bridge
10. Walking along Cam river
In London
1. British Library
2. British Museum
3. Trafalgar Square
4. Tower Bridge
5. Greenwich Observatory
6. Maritime Museum
7. Cutty Sark
8. Buckingham and Westminster Palace
9. Places Associated with Indian Revolutionaries
10. Journey by London Tube and DLR
The duration of the visit would be 12 days including journey.
The approximate expenditure for the visit is Rs.90,000 (Rupees
Ninety thousand only). This estimate includes airfare (Mumbai-London-Mumbai),
surface travel (London-Oxford- Cambridge-London), within
city travel, entry fees and lodging/boarding expenses for
the entire tour. This estimate might change a little depending
on the airfare and the currency conversion rate at the time
of journey. Please note that this estimate does not include
expenditure for obtaining passport and visa.
If you wish to join the proposed tour please fill in the
attached form and return it to the following address along
with a crossed cheque of Rs. 45,000 (Rupees Forty five thousand
only) drawn in favour of "Institute for Oriental Study,
Thane". The last date for submitting the application
is December 31, 2009. Please note that only those who submit
the photocopy of the passport by March 31, 2010 will be
considered for the tour.
Students who participated in the previous visit felt that
it was a life time opportunity for them. The tour offered
them ample educational opportunities to visit museums, libraries
and other educational institutions in UK. Social interaction
with British families made a lasting impact on the students'
